Performing with Bear McCreary: The Singularity - Live at the Fonda Los Angeles

Brendan McCreary is a multi-talented, genre-bending vocalist, musician, composer, performer, and actor. Brendan’s passion for music developed while he was growing up in Bellingham Washington, when he began playing the piano, saxophone, and guitar all while pursuing the craft of singing and songwriting. Brendan also grew as a musician in tandem with his older brother, acclaimed film and TV composer Bear McCreary.

Brendan has collaborated and performed with a wide range of artists and musicians, contributing his talents to an impressive array of  music for film and TV. He wrote, produced and often performed dozens of original songs and iconic covers for SyFy’s Defiance. He has performed on shows and films such as Battlestar GalacticaGodzilla King of the Monsters, The Walking DeadThe Serpent QueenThis Game’s Called Murder, and the forthcoming The 4:30 Movie from Kevin Smith, among others.

Perhaps his most notable collaborations include fronting Oingo Boingo Former Members (the reunited band from the 80s), and providing the singing voice of Freddie Mercury on the Emmy nominated song “Totally Gay” from Netflix’s hit show Big Mouth.

Brendan sang and co-produced (with legendary pianist John Beasley) an entire album with Mike Stoller (one half of the legendary songwriting duo Leiber/Stoller, responsible for such hits as “Stand by Me” & "Hound Dog”) titled: Brendan McCreary Sings the Love Songs of Mike Stoller.

Brendan also co-wrote and co-produced his brother Bear McCreary’s debut solo album, an epic, double disc hard rock concept album called The Singularity.

Beyond his collaborative and compositional work, Brendan has also released his own solo works writing, performing, and producing music with bands such as Young Beautiful in a Hurry, Crisis Couture, and McKian.

In addition to his musical ventures, Brendan has also starred in an indie horror film called Chillerama, and plays a recurring character on the Nintendo mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes. He also served as an on-set music director for productions including NBC’s Constantine, and is a vocal and performance coach, most notably to Linda Hamilton for her role on SyFy’s Defiance.

Pop Music

Here is a collection of my work in the pop/rock genre spanning a decade or more. Everything from super heartfelt pop to goof ball hair metal [Why? Because I can that’s why!].

CRISIS COUTURE

Crisis Couture is a hard rock/metal project that started as a series of tracks for a film score, that blossomed into a fully realized album…and right as I was about to do our first shows, covid hit. Now Crisis Couture is primarily a solo project which I do myself, with 3 new EPs dropping this year.

THE SINGULARITY

The Singularity is my brother Bear McCreary’s debut solo album. An experimental and/or progressive metal/rock opera with a nearly 2 hour run time, and it was co-produced and for many songs, co-written by me. It is a majestic foray into many genres of metal and rock, with a cornucopia of guest singers and musicians including (but not limited to): Serj Tankian, Slash, Rufus Wainwright, Jens Kidman, and Corey Taylor. And yours truly too! Listen below!

MIKE STOLLER PROJECT

Last year I had the honor and privilege of working with the legendary Mike Stoller on an album of gems from his treasure trove of songs. Some, have never even been recorded. The project came about when documentary film maker Ward Roberts interviewed Mike about Cole Porter. Mike divulged he had written a song in the style of Cole back in 1959 - unreleased, and when asked if he wanted to record it, he readily agreed. Ward brought me on to produce (and perform) the track, and we were off to the races. I knew the tune (and subsequent album) would require a certain level of genius that only John Beasley could bring to the table, and the two of us co-produced the album together. That first song entitled “That Old Tune Called Romance” blossomed into a 10 song album, and is available now for your listening pleasure!
