Brendan McCreary is a multi-talented, genre-bending vocalist, musician, composer, performer, and actor. Brendan’s passion for music developed while he was growing up in Bellingham Washington, when he began playing the piano, saxophone, and guitar all while pursuing the craft of singing and songwriting. Brendan also grew as a musician in tandem with his older brother, acclaimed film and TV composer Bear McCreary.
Brendan has collaborated and performed with a wide range of artists and musicians, contributing his talents to an impressive array of music for film and TV. He wrote, produced and often performed dozens of original songs and iconic covers for SyFy’s Defiance. He has performed on shows and films such as Battlestar Galactica, Godzilla King of the Monsters, The Walking Dead, The Serpent Queen, This Game’s Called Murder, and the forthcoming The 4:30 Movie from Kevin Smith, among others.
Perhaps his most notable collaborations include fronting Oingo Boingo Former Members (the reunited band from the 80s), and providing the singing voice of Freddie Mercury on the Emmy nominated song “Totally Gay” from Netflix’s hit show Big Mouth.
Brendan sang and co-produced (with legendary pianist John Beasley) an entire album with Mike Stoller (one half of the legendary songwriting duo Leiber/Stoller, responsible for such hits as “Stand by Me” & "Hound Dog”) titled: Brendan McCreary Sings the Love Songs of Mike Stoller.
Brendan also co-wrote and co-produced his brother Bear McCreary’s debut solo album, an epic, double disc hard rock concept album called The Singularity.
Beyond his collaborative and compositional work, Brendan has also released his own solo works writing, performing, and producing music with bands such as Young Beautiful in a Hurry, Crisis Couture, and McKian.
In addition to his musical ventures, Brendan has also starred in an indie horror film called Chillerama, and plays a recurring character on the Nintendo mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes. He also served as an on-set music director for productions including NBC’s Constantine, and is a vocal and performance coach, most notably to Linda Hamilton for her role on SyFy’s Defiance.
